We are Clint and Sandy Lightell of New Philadelphia. Some twenty years ago, my wife and I had a dream of establishing a bakery that would produce wonderfully made items. Products that contain quality ingredients and are prepared with care and purpose. After years of dreaming, brainstorming, praying and an inspiring trip to Chicago, we decided (in January of 2019) to operate as a licensed home bakery. Our goal, Lord-willing, is to have our very own storefront someday! In the meantime, we are going to continue to live out this passion for baking by providing our costumers with our very best specialty cakes & pies!!

As youngsters, we grew up watching our mothers cook and bake everything from homemade breads and pastas, to cookies, pies and cakes. I will never forget watching my mother, Rita, kneading by hand a freshly made batch of dough. I can still smell the aroma of her delicious bread baking. At other times, the sweet smell of chocolate cake baking in the oven meant the end of supper was going to be extra special.
About the name.... We named the bakery after Sandy's father, Marcurio D'Orazio. In 1954, as a young man, Marcurio traveled from Montenerodomo in Abruzzo, Italy to Ellis Island and then on to Canton, OH. With his deep Italian roots and heritage come many wonderful inspiring stories of life as a boy in the mountains surrounding his hometown. From near death because of a Viper snakebite to the invasion of German troops on his hometown, to the miles of early morning travels on foot to gather crops and being a shepherd boy, Marcurio (a.k.a. Mike) is always eager to share real life stories that can teach and give guidance to those willing to hear. It's in his honor that we chose to name our bakery..."D'Orazio's".

To our joy, we have five children; Clint David (wife Jenn), Aviana, Christian, Amelia, and Abigail.
Home Sweet Home!
As a young boy, I grew up in a family business. I witnessed first hand what joy and blessing there was in working together with your spouse. My parents (Marc & Rita) were a wonderful example of two people working together, side by side, for the last 40 years...and continue to do so today!
While this may not be for everyone, my sweetheart and I enjoy our time together working through the daily tasks of the business. It's our desire to continue to emulate the fine example from my parents of patience, diligence, sacrifice, hard work, and love. They are two of the greatest people I have ever known!

We thank Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His blessings. Without Him, we can accomplish nothing. Our desire is to honor Him in all that we do.

We believe that all of our work is an opportunity to bless others by using quality ingredients and a passion in preparing each item with care. We are a state licensed home bakery located in New Philadelphia, Ohio established in 2019.

Sandy and I "count it all joy" to have the help of our children in the kitchen with us. Whether it's folding boxes, attaching labels, or helping deliver, we can count on each of them to assist us when necessary!
